Bomb Fingerprints Match Suspect’s

Compiled From Wire Services

Bolstering claims that they have nabbed a key coordinator of France’s terror bombings, police said Friday they have matched fingerprints found on two bombs to the arrested man.

Also Friday, French media reported that police believe an Algerian militant based in London who goes by the pseudonym of Abou Fares oversaw the bombing campaign.

The arrested suspect, 28-year-old Boulam Bensaid, last week told Fares by phone that police sweeps had knocked out the Paris cell of bombers, according to police sources. Police reportedly wiretapped the conversation.

French police reportedly confirmed Friday that Fares’ real name is Abdelkader Benouif.

Benouif was among 26 people sentenced to death in absentia following a bombing in 1992 at the Algiers airport that killed nine people and injured 123.
