Warren’s Ankle Improves; He’ll Start Against Giants On Sunday

Tacoma News Tribune

The Chris Warren scare ended the minute he stepped on the practice field Friday.

Considered doubtful by Seattle Seahawks coach Dennis Erickson on Thursday, Warren zipped around as if his sore left ankle wasn’t bothering him. It didn’t take Erickson long to figure out Warren will be healthy enough to play in Sunday’s game against the New York Giants.

“He’ll play,” Erickson said. “He moved around pretty good, like he hadn’t been hurt too much. He did everything.”

Warren sprained the ankle last Sunday. Swelling became so bad by the middle of the week he had to have blood drained.

Notes

Robert Blackmon (hamstring) returns to the starting lineup at strong safety. A hip pointer to Rafael Robinson gave Blackmon a chance to return. … John Friesz will be in uniform as the third quarterback. He is recovering from a second degree left shoulder separation. Rick Mirer starts. Stan Gelbaugh, wearing No. 8, is the backup.
