Influential Speakers At Christian Seminar

From Staff And Wire Reports

Two of the nation’s most influential Christian conservatives will speak at a two-day seminar next week in Coeur d’Alene.

Christian Coalition director Ralph Reed and Los Angeles Times columnist Cal Thomas will address the Oct. 12 and Oct. 13 event, titled “Educating for Virtue: The ‘New Values’ Revolution.”

Virginia Secretary of Health and Human Resources Kay James will also be speaking.

The event is hosted by the Shavano Institute for National Leadership, part of Michigan’s Hillsdale College. The seminar, the college says, “will examine the ‘values revolution’ of the 1990s and its continuing impact on American education.”

According to a college news release, the by-invitation-only event is sold out.

“Millions of Americans have had enough of the legacy of the rebellious ‘anything goes’ ‘60s, (with) moral relativism, sexual ‘liberation,’ abandonment of individual responsibility and the denial of virtue,” the college said in the news release.

Among many education-related topics the seminar addresses: private vouchers, charter schools, home-schooling, and teaching morality in the schools.
