Medical Physicist Banned From Practice

The Nuclear Regulatory Commission has barred a medical physicist at Madigan Army Medical Center from practice, saying he miscalculated radiation doses for five cancer patients.

Over the past 16 months, NRC investigators say the physicist, Hung Yu, used the wrong formulas to work out treatment plans.

Madigan officials would not identify the patients nor say if problems resulted from the errors.
