State Insurance Commissioner Cleared In Claim Over Firing

From Staff And Wire Reports

The attorney general on Monday cleared Insurance Commissioner Deborah Senn of a former top aide’s claim that Senn fired her for refusing to do campaign work on state time, a violation of state law.

“This is as we expected. There is no truth to these allegations, and the investigation shows that there has been no violation, or no support for the claim,” Senn said.

Nickie Moran, Senn’s former deputy in charge of consumer protection, claimed she was fired March 17 after repeatedly refusing her services and those of her staff to do campaign work on state time.

Senn said she was disturbed at the ease with which a former employee could harm her name and reputation.

“Suing is the American lottery. The odds are pretty high, but some people think they can win. All they have to do is file a claim” with the state, she said.
