Lester Minden Harvard, Idaho

Service for Lester A. Minden, 70, is planned for 2 p.m. today at the Church of the Nazarene in Potlatch, Idaho. Burial will follow at the Potlatch City Cemetery. Kramer Funeral Home in Palouse is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Minden, who was born in Onaway, Idaho, died Saturday.

He entered the Navy during World War II and served in the Pacific Theater. After the war, he returned to Potlatch.

He worked at the Boone Lumber Co. as a boiler tender from 1953 until his retirement in 1987.

He was a member of the Potlatch Post No. 10300, Veterans of Foreign Wars; and was a charter member of the Cayuse Kids Saddle Club.

He is survived by his wife of 49 years, June; four sons, Duane Minden of Viola, Idaho, Alvin Minden of Harvard, Rick Minden of Potlatch and Ron Minden of Princeton, Idaho; two brothers, Dennis Minden of Klamath Falls, Ore., and Irwin Minden of Harvard; three sisters, Marcella Stone and Clarice Franklin, both of Harvard, and Wilma Gilliam of Princeton; and 14 grandchildren.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Potlatch Ambulance Fund.

Ralph Williams Spokane

Mass for Ralph Joseph Williams, 84, will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Charles Catholic Church. Vigil service will be at 7 p.m. today at Hennessey-Smith Funeral Home. Burial will follow Mass at Fairmount Memorial Park.

Mr. Williams, who was born in Steilacoom, Wash., died Sunday. He had lived in Spokane for 35 years.

He served in the Army for three years in World War II as a member of the 1st Engineers combat unit.

He was a member of the National Association of Retired Federal Employees for 34 years and retired from the Veterans Administration Hospital.

He was the eldest member of the Puyallup Tribe and one of the last full-blooded members of the tribe.

He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Mary Williams; two sons, Robert Williams of Bedford, Ind. and Daniel Williams of Rockville, Md.; one daughter, Geneva Marshall of Spokane; one brother, Arthur Williams of Auburn, Wash.; 10 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Spokane or to the American Cancer Society.

Dorothy Harrison Tigard, Ore.

Service for Dorothy Florence Harrison, 75, is planned for 2 p.m. today at Hennessey Smith Funeral Home.

Mrs. Harrison, died Friday in Tigard, Ore. She was born in Cascade, Mont.

She had lived in Spokane for 10 years before moving to Tigard in 1985.

She was a homemaker and enjoyed making handmade quilts.

Mrs. Harrison is survived by one son, Dan Harrison of Tigard; one daughter, Doris Saccheri of Portland; two sisters, Ina Brown, of Spokane and Dolly Nicholls of Great Falls, Mont.; several brothers and many grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.

Nola ‘Mick’ Straight Palouse, Wash.

Graveside service for Nola N. “Mick” Straight, 64, is planned for 10 a.m. today at Greenwood Cemetery in Palouse. Burial will follow the service. Kramer Funeral Home in Palouse is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Straight, who was born in Colville, Wash., died Monday.

She had worked as a bookkeeper at the Garfield Union Warehouse and also worked at the Rotunda dining hall at Washington State University from 1975 to 1982.

She moved to Palouse in 1994.

She was an avid quilt maker.

Her husband, Verne, died in 1994.

She is survived by two daughters, Debbie Ewing of Palouse and Kim Shahan of Colfax, Wash.; her twin brother, Raymond Anderson of Sunset, Utah; two sisters, Florence Midkiff of Victor, Mont., and Ila Anderson; and four grandchildren.

Helen Geraghty Spokane

Service for Helen M. Geraghty, 83, will be at 1 p.m. today at Riplinger Funeral Home.

A 50-year Spokane resident, Mrs. Geraghty died Saturday. She was born in Alberta, Canada.

She had been a homemaker.

Mrs. Geraghty was a charter member of the Plymouth Congregational Church, Oriental Shrine, Daughters of the Nile, Quota Club International, Spokane Toastmistresses, Alpha Chi Omega sorority at the University of Idaho, Manito Garden Club, and the Women’s Federation.

She was precede in death by her husband, Cye.

She is survived by four sons Thomas, Jerry and Raymond Geraghty, all of Spokane, and Larry Geraghty of Seattle; eight grandchildren and one great-grandson.

Memorial may be made to the Inland Empire Diabetes Association or the American Heart Association.

Florence Turk Spokane

Service for Florence R. Turk, 80, is planned for 10 a.m. Thursday at Riplinger Funeral Home. Vigil service will be at 7 p.m. today at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Spokane Memorial Gardens.

Mrs. Turk, who was born in Scottsville, Ill., died Saturday. She had lived in Spokane for 44 years.

She was a homemaker.

She had been a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Parrish, the Hillyard Rebekah Lodge and the Veterans of Foreign Wars.

She is survived by her husband of 45 years, John; one daughter, Anna Collins of Burns, Ore.; one son, Donald Ruskey of Everett; one brother, Harry Arnold of Niles, Mich.; seven grandchildren and 12 greatgrandchildren.

Mildred Rodgers Spokane

Memorial Service for Mildred I. Rodgers, 84, is set for 11 a.m. Saturday at Westminster Presbyterian Church. Hazen and Jaeger Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Rodgers, who was born in Washington died Thursday. She had lived in Spokane for 50 years.

She was a member and current deacon of Westminster Presbyterian Church. She was also a member of the Order of the Eastern Star and Spokane Lodge No. 228 of the Elks Club, and was a 17-year volunteer at St. Luke’s Memorial Hospital, where she was active in the auxiliary.

She was an avid bridge player.

Her husband, Raymond, preceded her in death.

She is survived by two sons, Bob Croy, Harrington, Wash., and Thomas Rodgers, Spokane; one brother, Melvin Snook, Orofino, Idaho; two sisters, Wilma Norell, Virginia and Iva Snook, both of Spokane; 10 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren.

Marie Watson Spokane

Service for Marie E. Watson, 82, will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Hazen and Jaeger Funeral Home. Visitation is from 9 a.m. until 9 p.m. today. Burial will be at Greenwood Memorial Terrace.

A lifetime resident of Spokane, Mrs. Watson died Sunday.

She was a homemaker.

She had been a member of Lidgerwood Evangelical Church and was a longtime supporter of the Spokane Indians.

She is survived by her husband of 60 years, Cecil Watson; two sons, Bill and Kelly Watson, both of Spokane; one daughter, Linda Hall of Elma, Wash.; two brothers, Claude and Richard Evans; five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Harold Trerise Spokane

Service for Harold H. Trerise, 79, is set for 10 a.m. today at Riplinger Funeral Home. Private burial will follow.

Mr. Trerise, who was born in Winnepeg, Manitoba, died Friday. He was a Spokane resident for more than 45 years.

He had worked for the telephone company for 33 years.

He was a member of the Telephone Pioneers and Eagles Aerie No. 2.

Mr. Trerise is survived by his wife of 28 years, Dolly; one son, Richard Trerise of Spokane; two stepsons, Ronald and Richard Vandervert, both of Spokane; one sister, Margaret Prudente of Spokane; a brother, Lloyd Trerise of Clarkston, Wash.; four grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.

Marie Peterson Spokane

Service for Marie A. Peterson, 82, will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at Sunset Mausoleum Chapel, Fairmount Memorial Park. Visitation is today from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. at Hazen and Jaeger Funeral Home.

Mrs. Peterson, a lifetime resident of Spokane, died Sunday.

She was a graduate of North Central High School and had worked as a waitress.

Her husband, Earl, died in 1991.

She is survived by one son, Paul R. Cooper, Jr., Kent, Wash.; one sister, Ruth Compton, Spokane; four grandchildren and one great-grandson.

Mary Jane Goble Spokane

Memorial service for Mary Jane Goble, 77, is planned for 2 p.m. Thursday at Lidgerwood Presbyterian Church. Riplinger Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Goble, who was born in Silverton, Ore., died Monday. She was a 50-year Spokane resident.

She had worked as a business manager at Earl’s Radio and TV Service.

She was a member of Lidgerwood Presbyterian Church.

Mrs. Goble is survived by her husband of 47 years, Earl Goble of Spokane; two daughters, Carol Terrell of Vancouver, Wash., and Joyce Goble of Spokane; one son, Gary Goble of Denver; and two granddaughters.

Bessie Scott Bonners Ferry, Idaho

Service for Bessie Frances Scott, 78, was held Monday. Bonners Ferry Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Scott, who was born near Meadow Creek in North Idaho, died Thursday in Bonners Ferry.

She worked as a housekeeper while attending schools in Bonner and Boundary Counties. She also worked as a cook in Bonners Ferry.

She married John MacDonald in 1936. They later divorced.

During World War II, she moved to Pasco, where she worked as a cook for 25 years.

She returned to Bonners Ferry in 1967 and married Warren Scott. She owned and operated two restaurants in Bonners Ferry until her retirement in 1979.

Mrs. Scott enjoyed oil painting and playing the piano and organ.

Survivors include her husband, at home; one son, Charles MacDonald of California; one daughter, Sally Clapp of Nevada; three stepsons, Warren Scott Jr. of Priest River, Idaho, Richard Scott of Washington and Gerald Scott of Oregon; two brothers, Don Washburn of Lewiston and Howard Washburn of Montana; five sisters, Harriet Cameron, Lorraine Cossairt, Peggy Smith and Lura Dinning, all of Bonners Ferry, and Betty Kelson of Moscow, Idaho; 12 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

Audrey Weistaner Coeur d’Alene

Private graveside service for Audrey R. Weistaner, 67, will be Thursday at the Forest Cemetery’s Riverview section in Coeur d’Alene. Friends are invited to a memorial service on Thursday at 2 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church of Coeur d’Alene. Yates Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Weistaner, who was born in Bonners Ferry, Idaho, died Sunday at home.

She grew up and graduated from high school in Libby, Mont. She married Davis Weistaner in 1950.

She moved to Coeur d’Alene in 1967 and was a homemaker. She was an avid bridge player and enjoyed traveling. She also enjoyed her family and was a member of the First United Methodist Church.

Survivors include her husband, at home; one son, Kenneth Weistaner of Denver; two daughters, Janet Olsson of Spokane and Linda Weistaner of Sandpoint, Idaho; her mother, Rose Bitterman of Coeur d’Alene; one brother, Claire Bitterman of Montana; one grandson; and numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.

Dean Merriman Cheney

No service is planned for Dean D. Merriman, 93. Cheney Funeral Chapel is in charge of cremation. Inurnment will be at Spokane Memorial Gardens.

Mr. Merriman, who was born in Lind, Wash., died Saturday.

He had farmed west of Cheney all his life.

He was a member of the Cheney Chapter, Independent Order of Odd Fellows.

Survivors include one nephew, Bayard Merriman of Spokane, and numerous grandnieces and grandnephews.
