Spokane Lifter Top American Finisher In Her Weight Class

From Staff Reports

Linda Harding of Spokane was the top U.S. finisher in her weight class, claiming 11th in the World Masters Power Lifting Championships last weekend in Denmark.

“I was happy,” said Harding, 45, who had won regional and national titles in the 114-148-pound weight division to qualify for the world event. “It was fun and a good experience. I learned a lot over there.”

Harding had a lift total of 325 kilos from her 303-pound dead lift, 160-pound bench press and 255-pound squat.

She said the 22-hour trip, 8-hour time difference and pressure of the competition resulted “in a lot of stress. I don’t think I ever did acclimate.”

A second Spokane lifter, Nancy Strehlau, 47, failed to complete any of her three lifts in the bench press and was disqualified.
