Man Charged In Shooting In Mountains
Jeffrey Robert Strouse was booked into jail Sunday on a charge of aggravated battery following the Saturday shooting of a Hayden man.
Strouse, 31, turned himself into authorities at the Kootenai County public safety building at 1:45 p.m.
He lives in the Wolf Lodge area just east of Coeur d’Alene, where Michael David Gunderson was shot in the back during an incident in the mountains, according to the sheriff’s department.
Gunderson, 33, underwent emergency surgery and remained in critical condition Sunday at Kootenai Medical Center.
Strouse said the shooting was accidental, according to his mother, Carol Strouse. The two men had been friends, but were feuding, she said.
The sheriff’s department said the shooting is still under investigation.
