UI’s Thomas Out For The Week

University of Idaho junior running back Joel Thomas will have arthroscopic knee surgery today after tests on his knee proved inconclusive earlier in the week.

Thomas will miss the first home game of the season on Saturday as the Vandals take on Sonoma State. Senior Lavoni Kidd replaces Thomas.

Volleyball

Senior Zvetelina Yanchulova and junior Lynne Hyland were named to the all-tournament team at the University of Portland Invitational over the weekend. The Vandals finished second.

Soccer

The Santa Clara women defeated Gonzaga University 5-0. The loss dropped the Bulldogs to 0-2 WCC, 0-3.

At the Campea Soccer Challenge at Burnaby, British Columbia, Whitworth’s women defeated the University of Victoria 3-1.

The Pirates’ (2-3) Jennifer Tissue, a junior from Shadle Park, scored three goals in the second half.

At Fraser Valley, Fraser Valley’s women defeated Community Colleges of Spokane 3-1. CCS went 0-3-1 in the tournament.

Tacoma got past CCS, winning a shootout 1-0 after the teams finished regulation with no score. The Sasquatch finished fifth out of six teams.

In the same tournament, the CCS men posted a 3-1 record and finished in third as they beat the British Columbia Institute of Technology 2-1 and Green River 4-1.

Golf

At the Polo Ralph Lauren Junior Golf Tournament, Spokane’s Britney Holt finished in fifth place with a 156. She shot 78s in two rounds on the par-71 course. Hilary Prugh shot 87-81-168 and Jennifer Hatley shot 86-93-179.
