Ken Sturgis Named 1995 Father Of The Year

Ken Sturgis, was named 1995 Father of the Year at a brunch hosted by the St. Stanislaus Roman Catholic Altar Society of Rathdrum. Sturgis is also active in Falls Full Gospel Assembly of God Church.

Five years ago he started a production of the Easter Cantata, for which he makes the props and acts.

Sturgis, his wife Rose, and their five children moved to Idaho in 1977 and live in the Twin Lakes area.

His daughter, Cheryl, said, “I have seen my dad give his last dime to someone whose need was greater. He gives his heart and soul to the church and has always been a strength to the community.”

Patti Greer was named Employee of the Month for August by Best Western Templin’s Resort. She has been with Templin’s since July 1993.

Jason Schooler has enlisted in the Army’s Delayed Entry Program as a cannon fire direction specialist; he left for basic training in Fort Sill, Olka., last Wednesday. Schooler is a 1995 graduate of Lake City High School in Coeur d’Alene and the son of Thomas Schooler and Marilyn Kennedy, both of Coeur d’Alene.

Matthew Lay has enlisted in the Army Reserve as a practical nurse and left recently for basic training. He is a 1994 graduate of Post Falls High School and the son of Henry Lay of Desmot, Ark., and Connie Thomas of Post Falls.

Jeffrey Mader has transferred from the Army Reserve to active Army. He enlisted as a parachute rigger and will leave for advanced individual (skill) training at Fort Benning, Ga., on Nov. 7.

Mader is a 1995 graduate of Lakeland High School and the son of Annie Mader of Post Falls and Robert Mader of Bothell, Wash.

Sandra Ramm has enlisted in Army’s Delayed Entry Program and leaves for basic training at Fort Jackson, S.C., today. Following her basic and advanced training, she will attend the Defense Language Institute in Monterey, Calif.

Ramm is the daughter of Terry Burton of Rathdrum.

Jason Livengood has enlisted in the Army’s Delayed Entry Program as a cannon crew member and left for basic training at Fort Sill, Okla., on last Wednesday.

Livengood is a 1994 graduate of Coeur d’Alene High School and the son of Debra Lloyd of Post Falls.
