Jewish Elementary Dedicated In Berlin

Compiled From Wire Services

The first Jewish elementary school in Berlin since World War II was dedicated Friday, described as a miracle given the Nazi atrocities that wiped out Europe’s Jews.

The dedication of the still-incomplete building drew a distinguished crowd, including President Roman Herzog, top city officials, diplomats, scholars and Holocaust survivors.

Berlin’s Jewish community now numbers about 10,000. Many have arrived since the late 1980s.
