Leon Cover Moscow

Service for Leon Cover, 53, will be today at 2 p.m. at the Moscow Church of the Nazarene. Burial will follow at the Moscow Cemetery. Short’s Funeral Chapel of Moscow is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Cover, who was born in Detroit, died of cancer Friday at the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center in Seattle.

He grew up in Helena, where he moved as a child. He later served in the Navy and lived in Spokane. He attended Mr. Nick’s Beauty College in Lewiston.

Mr. Cover married Janice George in Coeur d’Alene in 1962. In 1967, he bought Mr. Nick’s and changed the name to Mr. Leon’s School of Hair Design.

He operated the school for 28 years, along with several other cosmetology ventures.

Mr. Cover was a member of the Moscow Church of the Nazarene and the Moscow Jaycees and served on the Idaho State Board of Cosmetology.

He enjoyed boating, traveling, snow skiing, raising his dogs and being with his family.

He was preceded in death by his son, Leon, in 1991, his parents and a brother.

Survivors include his wife, at home; three daughters, Debbie Dahl of Junction City, Ore., Tammy Mitchell of Boise and Lisa Salisbury of Moscow; two brothers, Sam Cover of Everett and Bob Cover of Bozeman, Mont.; two sisters, Jeanne Hogg of Tacoma and Sandy Minnick of Seattle; and seven grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.

Eunice Bidlake Palouse, Wash.

Service for Eunice R. Bidlake, 99, will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Church of the Nazarene in Palouse. Burial will follow at Greenwood Cemetery in Palouse. Kramer Funeral Home of Palouse is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Bidlake, who died Saturday at Latah Health Services in Moscow, Idaho, was born in Princeton, Idaho.

She and her husband, Stephen Bidlake, farmed in Princeton. He died in 1926.

Mrs. Bidlake continued to operate the farm until 1944 when she moved to Palouse.

She had worked at Kramer Funeral Home in Palouse for several years.

She is survived by two sons, Valentine Bidlake of Pullman and Quenteen Bidlake of Princeton; two daughters, June Crantz of Moscow and Rose Ekman of Woodland, Wash.; one sister, Jennie Kamm of San Marcos, Calif.; 13 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Potlatch Ambulance Fund.

Larry Paulson Kellogg

Graveside service for Larry Allen Paulson, 48, will be today at 2 p.m. at Greenwood Cemetery in Kellogg. Shoshone Funeral Service is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Paulson, who was born in Montana, died Saturday at Shoshone Medical Center in Kellogg.

He served with the Marines during the Vietnam War and later graduated from Spokane Falls Community College.

He moved to the area in 1994 from Kennewick, where he was a patrolman for the Hanford-Westinghouse Co.

Mr. Paulson married Linda Ehnes in South Carolina in 1983.

He loved to read and was a talented woodcarver. He also loved racing cars and had previously worked at the races at Portland International Raceway in Oregon.

Survivors include his wife, at home; one son, Jay Paulson of Spokane; one daughter, Anmrie Perry of Spokane; two stepsons, Dustin and Tony Gray, both of Kellogg; two stepdaughters, Amy Dotson of Coeur d’Alene and Angie Worster of Kennewick; his parents, Orville and Iva Paulson of Ronan, Mont.; three brothers, Robert, Paul and Richard Paulson, all of Ronan; four sisters, Marilyn Dent of Ronan, Angela Puntney of Salem, Ore., Kimberly Paulson of Pasco and Keryl Bosley of Kennewick; his grandmothers, Latona Paulson of Salem and Gina Munson of Whitefish, Mont.; one granddaughter, five stepgranddaughters; and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.

Angie Norris Spokane

Service for Angie L. Norris, 80, was Monday at Ball and Dodd Funeral Home-North with burial at Fairmount Memorial Park.

Mrs. Norris, who died Thursday, was born in Veradale.

She was a longtime Spokane resident.

Mrs. Norris had worked during World War II as an airplane mechanic at Galena Army Air Depot. She had also been a housekeeper at the Desert Oasis Hotel and a home health caregiver at Canterbury Court.

She was a member of Terrace Heights Baptist church and the Spokane Police Guild.

Her husband, Thomas Norris, preceded her in death.

She is survived by one daughter, Kay Conklin of Spokane; one brother, Patrick Smith of Coeur d’Alene; one foster daughter, Gail Tanaka of California; seven grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.

Janiece Young Spokane

Memorial service for Janiece Lucile Young, 64, will be at 11:30 a.m. today at Hennessey-Smith Funeral Home. Private inurnment was planned.

Mrs. Young, who died Saturday, was born in Comstock, Mich.

She had lived in Spokane for 30 years and worked as a stenographer for a construction company.

Her husband, Jack Young, died in 1989.

She is survived by her mother, Lucy Fishburn of Spokane; and one sister, Sandra Spencer of Enumclaw, Wash.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.

Eva Ellwart St. John, Wash.

Service for Eva Eunice Ellwart, 100, will be at 11 a.m. today at Bruning Funeral Home in Colfax, Wash. Burial will be at Colfax Cemetery.

Mrs. Ellwart died Saturday in Wenatchee, where she had lived for five months.

She was born between St. John and Pine City, Wash., and was a longtime resident of the St.John-Ewan, Wash., area.

Mrs. Ellwart and her husband, Arnold Ellwart, lived and farmed in the St. John-Ewan area. He died in 1978.

She was a member of the Eaton Grange.

She is survived by one daughter, Marie Hill of East Wenatchee, Wash.; two sisters, Mae McFarlane and Dora Hart, both of Spokane; and four grandchildren.

Barbara Perry Spokane

Joint memorial service for Barbara Diane-Marie Perry, 31, and her halfsister, Edith Hansen, was Monday at Fairmount Memorial Park.

Mrs. Perry died Wednesday from injuries suffered in an auto accident on Trent Avenue.

She was born in Spokane and had lived in Newport, Wash., for six years. She returned to Spokane a year ago.

Mrs. Perry was a member of Holy Trinity Episcopal Church.

She is survived by her father, Richard Dee of Spokane; one daughter, Yolanda Perry, and one son, Sidney Hansen, both of Spokane; her grandmother, Ruby Oman of Spokane; two brothers, Laurence and Shane Dee, both of Spokane; and one sister, Denise Dee of Spokane.

Edith Hansen Spokane

Joint memorial service for Edith A. (Zielinski) Hansen, 20, and her halfsister, Barbara Perry, was Monday at Fairmount Memorial Park.

Mrs. Hansen died Wednesday of injuries suffered in an auto accident on Trent Avenue.

She was born in Spokane and grew up in Metaline Falls, Wash.

She had lived in Spokane for the past 10 years and worked at Rosauers at Heritage Village.

She was a member of Holy Trinity Episcopal Church.

She is survived by her husband, Mark Hansen of Spokane; one brother, Laurence Dee of Spokane; and her grandmother, Ruby Oman of Spokane.
