Bomb Scare Interrupts Classes

From Staff And Wire Reports

A bomb scare kept Kellogg High School students waiting in the school parking lot for about an hour and a half Wednesday while officials searched the building.

A phone call, taken by the school secretary about 8 a.m., indicated that a bomb was set to go off in the school at 3 p.m.

“It was real fast. They couldn’t even determine if the caller was male or female,” Shoshone County Lt. Charles “Spike” Angle said.

After checking the gymnasium, school staff had students wait there while they began to search the rest of the building, KHS principal Larry Wier said.

“Always in the past these threats have been a prank, but you can never assume that’s the case. We jumped right on it,” he said.

When officials arrived, the students were herded outside.

The Kellogg Fire Department, sheriff’s deputies and police officers from several Silver Valley towns all responded, but nothing was found, Angle said.

Classes were back in session before 10 a.m.
