Re-Cycled Exercise

Bicycling

Crashed bikes are reincarnated as toys and bicycle training equipment for mountain bikers in a series of ingenious devices by a San Francisco inventor.

Ted Armstrong has developed seven mechanical devices using discarded bike parts such as sprockets, tubing, rims, cranks and chains. Each can be used in a small indoor space, such as the corner of an office. Among the devices are:

The Bongo Cycle, simulates knee and ankle rotation.

The Spring-Loaded Exercise Bike, simulates riding on rough, hilly terrain.

The Carousel, whirls riders in circles as they pedal.
