Research Module In Rendezvous With Mir
A research module carrying gear for American astronaut Shannon Lucid has docked with the Russian space station Mir.
The Priroda module blasted off from the Baikonur cosmodrome in Kazakstan on Tuesday and docked with the orbiting station Friday afternoon, the Interfax news agency said.
The module was supposed to go up in November, but construction lagged. As a result, Lucid has been unable to carry out many research projects.
The Priroda carried 1,980 pounds of research equipment that Lucid will use during her five months aboard the Mir.
