Joe Bowman Priest Lake, Idaho

No service will be held for Joseph A. “Joe” Bowman, 41. Sherman-Knapp Funeral Home in Newport, Wash., is in charge of arrangements. Mr. Bowman died Aug. 2 at home. He was born in Conrad, Mont.

He married Terry Wright in 1977 and they had two daughters.

In 1984 he moved to Priest River. He married Margie Johnson-Simpkins. She had three daughters and they had three more daughters together.

Mr. Bowman worked in the lumber industry until a saw accident left him partially disabled.

He is survived by his wife; five daughters, Cody and Shawnee Colter, both of Alaska, Casey, Nicole and Kassadie Bowman; three stepdaughters, Joanna, Jackie and Angie Simpkins; a brother, John Bowman, and a sister, Angie Brown, both of Boise; and two grandchildren.

Harold Michel Post Falls

Memorial service for Harold Michel, 66, will be Wednesday at 3 p.m. at Calvary Lutheran Church in Post Falls. English Funeral Chapel in Post Falls is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Michel, who was born in Colorado, died Sunday.

He moved to Rathdrum 40 years ago after serving in the Army during the Korean War.

Mr. Michel had worked for Idaho Veneer for 26 years before retiring in 1992.

He was a member of Calvary Lutheran Church, the Post Falls Lions Club and was a past volunteer for the Post Falls Ambulance and Fire Department. He was a also member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 3603 and served as past commander. He was involved with the Boy Scouts of America.

Survivors include his wife, Delores; one son, Gary Michel of Post Falls; one daughter, Merrillyn Whitehead of Post Falls; his mother, Elizabeth Harvey of Post Falls; two brothers, Edwin Michel of Colorado and Robert Michel of Maryland; one sister, Elsie Cunningham of California; and five grandchildren.

Virginia Cobley Spokane

Memorial service for Virginia Ruth Cobley, 80, will be at 1 p.m. today at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints East Stake Building. Hennessey-Valley Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Cobley, who was born in Black Lake, Idaho, died Saturday.

She had lived in Spokane for 10 years and was on the board of directors of the Timothy Funding Group, Inc. She was a member of the Newcomer’s and the Soroptimist Club.

She is survived by three sons, Robert Johnson Jr. of Spokane, Jay Johnson of Fresno, Calif., and Thomas Keison of Hayden Lake, Idaho; a daughter, Patricia Timothy of Spokane; three sisters, Lucille Horn of Falls Church, Va., Betty Spigler of Bremerton and JoAnne Dobson of Spokane; seven grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.

Memorial contributions may be made to Sacred Heart Development Fund.

Louis ‘Frenchie’ Dupuis Spokane

Memorial service for Louis Wilford “Frenchie” Dupuis, 86, is planned for 2 p.m. today at Hennessey-Smith Funeral Home.

Mr. Dupuis, who died Sunday, was a lifetime Spokane resident.

He worked for the Washington highway department as an operating engineer and after retirement, worked as a commercial salmon fisherman out of LaPush, Wash.

He was a honorary member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 51 and was a member of the Democratic Club.

He is survived by his wife of 37 years, Margie Dupuis; a daughter, June Obde of Spokane; three stepsons, Tuffy Dahl of Kendrick, Idaho, Johnny Dahl of Burns, Ore., and Wayne “Peanuts” Davis of Seattle; two stepdaughters, Taffy Widgeon of Veradale and Valli Maurer of Spokane; three brothers, Alden Helgemo of Silverdale, Wash., Cliff Helgemo of Kellogg and Alex “Junior” Helgemo of Texas; a sister, Jeanea Divers of Kellogg; numerous grandchildren and two great-granddaughters.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 51.
