Violin Worth More Than $200,000 Stolen

Compiled From Wire Services

A 17th-century Italian violin worth about $216,000 was stolen over the weekend from a car parked in a department store garage.

The instrument belonged to a Korean violinist living in Cologne, a police spokesman said Monday. He declined to release her name.

Thieves smashed a car window and snatched the violin along with its case and four bows on Saturday, police said.

The violin was made by Giovanni Grancino.
