Holiday Bowl Takes Huskies

Associated Press

Spurned by the Cotton Bowl, the Washington Huskies on Sunday accepted an invitation to play Colorado in the Holiday Bowl on Dec. 30 in San Diego.

The Big 12’s Colorado (9-2) is ranked eighth in this week’s AP Top 25 college football poll, and the Pac-10’s Huskies (9-2) are No. 13.

“What a great vacation opportunity in the month of December. We couldn’t be more pleased with the Plymouth Holiday Bowl and the matchup with Colorado,” Washington coach Jim Lambright said.

“I think the highlighting of the game will be pretty easy.”

It will be the first appearance of a Pac-10 team in the Holiday Bowl since 1985, when Arizona State lost to Arkansas, 18-17.
