Sweden and defending champion Russia got off to fast starts in the week-long Izvestia Cup ice hockey tournament in Moscow, winning their opening games. Sweden whipped Canada 5-1, while Russia rode two first-period goals to a 3-1 victory over Finland.

Andre Agassi will make his first appearance in two years for the U.S. Davis Cup tennis team when it travels to Brazil for a first-round match in February.
