West Valley Wins On ‘Road’

AA/A/B boys

David Schillinger scored 34, making four of his team’s seven 3-pointers, and Vinnie Pecht added 12 rebounds as fourth-ranked West Valley (14-2, 7-1) beat Clarkston 74-61 in a Frontier League game. The game was played at East Valley because of a power outage at WV. The Bantams dropped to 6-6, 3-3.

Ben Peterson scored 16 of his 32 in the first quarter, and finished 14 of 22 from the floor, as the Chargers (7-14) beat the visiting Warriors (5-15) in a tiebreaker.

Peterson added 16 rebounds for Springdale, which earned the South’s No. 4 seed to the league tournament, and opens today at eighth-ranked Republic (18-2). Bryan Argentino scored 23 and Dave Edwards had four 3-pointers for St. Michael’s, which ended its season.

Bob Stoner had seven rebounds for Colfax, which clinched a district berth. Aaron Moran had seven rebounds. The Stags, battling for the sixth and final district berth, play their final league game Friday at No. 2 Chewelah (14-2, 11-0).
