Dollar Follows Stocks Lower

The dollar fell against major currencies Tuesday after the greenback erased earlier gains by following U.S. stock and bond markets lower.

The dollar ended barely higher against the Japanese yen, after rising more than 2 yen, and fell against the German mark.

By 4 p.m. in New York, the dollar was trading at 1.4473 marks, down from 1.4535 on Friday; U.S. foreign exchange markets were closed Monday for the Presidents’ Day holiday. It finished at 105.75 yen, compared with 105.20 on Friday.
