Nic Instructor Travels To Korea

From Staff And Wire Reports

Another exchange between North Idaho College and its new sister college in Korea will start Sunday when Kim Mogen travels to Chung Cheong Junior College to teach English for 17 weeks.

Mogen has been teaching English as a Second Language classe at NIC for four years to students and community members from a variety of countries.

NIC signed a sister college agreement with Chung Cheong Junior College in May 1995. The first student exchange was in January when 20 students attended NIC for an intensive four-week program.

Mogen will be the first instructor from either college to participate in the teacher exchange program. She has spent the last two months preparing for her trip.

Mogen will be living in the city of ChongJu, a city of 500,000 people, 90 miles southeast of Seoul. Few foreigners live there and few people speak English. She will teach six classes of 40 students each. Two of the students who came to Coeur d’Alene this winter will be in her classes.

Mogen will return to Coeur d’Alene in July.
