U-Hi Sends Ferris To Defeat

Kelly Hineman pumped in 26 points and University connected on 20 of 29 free throws as the Titans handed Ferris its first loss of the season, 66-52 in a Greater Spokane League basketball game at Ferris on Wednesday night.

The Titans forced turnovers on the Saxons’ first four possessions and six of their first seven to break to an early lead.

University (3-2, 6-3) kept the pressure on as Ferris (3-1, 7-1) finished with 25 turnovers.

The Titans made 16 of 24 free throws in the fourth quarter, with Hineman making 8 of 10.

Ferris, Gonzaga Prep and Mead are all 3-1 in league play with University, Central Valley and Lewis and Clark at 3-2.

Mike Homer hit a 3-pointer with 15 seconds left as the Tigers (3-2, 7-2) rallied to beat the Bullpups (2-2, 6-2) at Prep.

Joe McFarland tallied all 12 of his points in the third quarter as the Bullpups opened a 10-point lead.

Lewis and Clark’s Paul Mencke rallied the Tigers by scoring 10 of his 25 points in the final period.

The Panthers (3-1, 5-3) made 11 of 14 free throws in the fourth quarter, pulling away to beat the Highlanders 2-3, 3-6) at Shadle.

Adam Morris led Mead with 19 points, hitting all six of his foul shots in the final minutes.

Shadle Park was up 35-32 but was outscored 28-11 in the fourth quarter.

Carson May had 13 rebounds as the Bears (3-2, 5-3) dominated the backboards and turned back the visiting Indians (1-3, 4-4).

NC kept coming back each time CV surged head before the Bears, who finished with a 42-19 rebounding advantage, outscored the Indians 21-12 in the third quarter.
