Student Hit By Bus In Crosswalk, Killed

From Staff And Wire Reports

A 16-year-old student was struck by a school bus and killed as she walked in a crosswalk in front of her high school Wednesday, the Washington State Patrol said.

The Clarkston School District bus driver, Teresita Easttum, 64, of Clarkston, failed to yield the right of way as she made a left turn at an intersection, according to a State Patrol accident report.

The bus made the turn on a green light, and the crosswalk had both markings on the pavement and a “walk-don’t walk” light, the State Patrol said.

The pedestrian, Dawn M. Lindsey, was pronounced dead at St. Joseph Regional Medical Center in Lewiston, the State Patrol said.
