Abandoned Baby Released From Hospital Boy Found In Trash Will Go To Foster Home
A newborn baby found abandoned last week in a trash bin at a suburban McDonald’s restaurant was released Wednesday from Children’s Hospital.
The infant boy was turned over to state Child Protective Services and will be placed in a foster home, hospital spokesman Dean Forbes said.
The baby was found in a trash bin in the parking lot of a McDonald’s in Tukwila, south of Seattle, on June 24.
The infant had a skull fracture - possibly sustained when he was dumped in the trash can, Tukwila police said.
The baby arrived at the hospital in critical condition but his health gradually improved.
The mother, a 20-year-old University of Washington student, told police she had not known she was pregnant and had thought the baby was dead when she gave birth. It was her second full-term pregnancy, authorities said. She gave the first child up for adoption.
The King County prosecutor’s office is reviewing the case.
