From Staff And Wire Reports

A man walking on Interstate 90 was killed early Tuesday when he was hit by a car.

The accident occurred shortly after midnight in the westbound lanes of I-90 near the Harvard Road interchange, the Washington State Patrol reported.

Authorities still were verifying the dead man’s identity late Tuesday.

He was walking in the middle of the right-hand lane when he was struck from behind by a 1983 Buick driven by Marshall Shepherd of Spokane, troopers said.

Shepherd’s car was totaled in the collision. He suffered cuts on his left arm and hand.
