Imposter Avoids Jail
A California man who changed his identity to play football for the University of Texas after his eligibility expired avoided prison time or a fine.
Ron Weaver, 30, of Salinas, will have a felony criminal record after appearing before U.S. District Judge William J. Rea. He pleaded guilty in May to misusing a social security number.
He could have received up to two years in federal prison, said his lawyer, Peter Soli.
