Slain French Monks Buried In Algeria

Five of the seven French monks beheaded in Algeria last month by Islamic militants were slain as Algerian paratroopers closed in on their hideout, a magazine reported Wednesday.

The weekly L’Evenement du Jeudi said Algerian security forces surrounded the Medea region where they believed the monks were being held, dropping napalm bombs and carrying out extensive searches.

The monks were buried on the grounds of their monastery on Tuesday.
