Clinton Video Sealed

Associated Press

In a victory for President Clinton, a judge Tuesday sealed the videotapes of the testimony he gave in the first Whitewater trial.

U.S. District Judge George Howard Jr. said he didn’t believe journalists had improper motives, but he feared others might abuse the privilege.

“Once released and rebroadcast, the press cannot maintain control over individuals who might copy the broadcast and edit it to suit their purposes,” he said, ruling the tapes would remain under seal indefinitely.
