Missoula Mayor To Keynote Meeting

Missoula Mayor Daniel Kemmis, an expert on civic affairs, will be keynote speaker for the annual Idaho Association of Cities meeting in Post Falls Wednesday through Saturday.

Kemmis, author of “The Good City and the Good Life: Renewing the Sense of Community,” is well known for his ideas for getting citizens involved in crafting healthy cities. He speaks Friday.

More than 400 city officials from around the state are expected for the conference, being held at Templin’s Resort. The conference includes workshops on everything from impact fees to ways of lobbying the Legislature and holding effective council meetings.

Several area towns and cities will be shown off, including Wallace and Kellogg, Rathdrum’s new City Hall and Coeur d’Alene’s Ramsey Park.

Families will get to partake of a day at Silverwood Theme Park, a boat trip up the Spokane River to Lake Coeur d’Alene, Silver Mountain gondola rides and shopping thanks to corporate and individual sponsors.
