Terry Steinbach’s grand slam in the top of the 10th inning gave visiting Oakland an 8-4 victory over Detroit Monday night.

Steinbach’s 11th career grand slam came after Rafael Bournigal and Jason Giambi singled and Torey Lovullo was safe when Mike Myers (0-4) unsuccessfully tried to get Bournigal at third base on a sacrifice attempt.

Gregg Olson relieved, and one out later Steinbach hit a 3-1 pitch into the left-field seats.

The preliminary design for Seattle’s new baseball stadium features old-fashioned brick on the outside and modern amenities on the inside.

The Seattle architectural firm NBBJ unveiled the model Monday at a meeting of the board of directors of the public facilities district that is overseeing the project. The new ballpark is expected to be ready for the 1999 season.
