Ruling Reversed On Gop Gay Group

FRIDAY, JUNE 21, 1996

The state Supreme Court has reversed a lower court order and ruled that the Texas Republican Party does not have to provide a homosexual Republican organization with an information booth at the party’s convention.

The court, on Wednesday, unanimously overturned a state district judge’s ruling that ordered the party to provide convention space to the Texas chapter of the Log Cabin Republicans.

Delegates who are also Log Cabin members will be allowed to participate at the convention and testify before the platform committee, a state GOP spokesman said.
