Car Runs Over Teen To Try To Get Coat

From Staff And Wire Reports

A 14-year-old Spokane girl was intentionally hit by a pickup truck early Sunday after a passenger tried stealing her coat, police said.

The girl was crossing Mission at Maple on her way home shortly after midnight .

She told police a blue pickup stopped and an older teenage girl hopped out of the passenger door. She asked the 14-year-old if she was trying to “start something,” police said.

The older girl then threw the victim to the ground and demanded her coat. When the victim refused, the attacker returned to the pickup.

The truck backed up over the girl’s right leg. As she attempted to get away, the truck drove forward over her right foot before leaving the area.

The girl escaped serious injury, police said.

The would-be robber was described as a white female between 16 and 18, about 5-foot-8, 150 pounds. She had long, straight blond hair and green eyes. She was wearing a white V-neck T-shirt and light blue shorts.
