Obituaries

Janet Thompson LaCrosse, Wash.

Visitation for Janet Lynn Thompson, 10, will be today from 9 to 10:30 a.m. LaCrosse Methodist Church. Service will follow at 11 a.m. at the church. Burial will be at LaCrosse Cemetery. Bruning Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Janet died Thursday at Deaconess Medical Center from complications due to cystic fibrosis. She was born in Colfax, Wash.

She was a fifth-grader at LaCrosse Grade School and attended LaCrosse Methodist church.

She is survived by her parents, Allan and Leslie Thompson; one sister, Christina Thompson, and one brother, Brian Thompson, all at home; her grandmother, Pearl Thompson of Colfax; and her grandfather, Les Gibson of LaCrosse.

Memorial contributions may be made to Cystic Fibrosis Foundation or the Ronald McDonald House in Spokane.

Harry Pierce St. John, Wash.

Memorial service for Harry Henderson Pierce, 82, will be at 1 p.m. Monday at St. John Community Center. Thornhill Valley Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Pierce, who was born in Lancaster, Wash., died Thursday.

He graduated from St. John High School and had lived in St. John since 1958. He was a retired farmer.

In 1936 he married Grace Gross.

Mr. Pierce is survived by his wife; three daughters, Pat McKinley of Cheney, and Jane Marsh and Beverly O’Laughlin, both of Walla Walla; one son, Wayne Pierce of St. John; one sister, Evelyn Brewer of Tekoa, Wash.; eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. John Fire Department or the Shriner’s Hospital for Crippled Children.

Lloyd Hodgson Spokane

Service for Lloyd G. Hodgson, 79, will be at 1:30 p.m. today at Ball and Dodd Funeral Home-North. Burial will be at Fairmount Memorial Park.

Mr. Hodgson, who died Thursday, was born in Thornton, Wash.

He moved to Spokane in 1941 and worked at Geiger Field as an aircraft mechanic, starting in 1942. He then worked at Fairchild Air Force Base as a civilian. He joined the Army Air Corps in 1945 for a short time, and returned to work at Fairchild Air Force Base. He was a refueling specialist on the flight line until 1960. He then continued to work as a mechanical engineer at Fairchild Air Force Base and retired in 1974.

He was a member of the American Legion Post No.9, Elks Lodge No. 228, Moose Lodge No. 161, Eagles Aerie No. 2, Brotherhood of Friends and the B.O.F. and the National Association of Retired Federal Employees.

He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Jane Hodgson; one daughter, Darlene Dolan of Washington, D.C.; three sisters, Irene Hubbard of Woodsfield, Ohio, Evelyn Vergota of Moses Lake and Pauline Birch of Spokane.
