Cartoon Angers Christian Coalition

The Christian Coalition demanded Friday that the Los Angeles Times apologize for an editorial cartoon that depicted GOP presidential nominee Bob Dole hanging from a cross.

In the cartoon, published Thursday, Dole wore a crown of thorns arranged to read “Christian Coalition.”

The cartoon, by Paul Conrad, was a “blatant anti-Christian slur that offended millions of people of faith,” the coalition said.

Gloria Lopez, a spokeswoman for the Times, said the paper did not plan to run an apology.
