West Valley Piles It On Rams, 10-1 And 19-10

In Frontier League baseball games on Saturday, West Valley played long ball, East Valley rallied to win the second game of a doubleheader after getting clobbered by Cheney in the first game, and Colville swept Pullman.

At West Valley, in the Eagles’ 10-1 and 19-10 wins over Riverside, WV (3-2) got 31 hits and four home runs on the day. WV’s Tim and Joe Eklund combined for nine hits.

Meanwhile, at East Valley, Cheney (2-2) got a 13-1 win before EV (5-1) came back to win the second, 7-6.

In game one, Cheney’s Tucker Urdahl struck out 11, walked four and gave up two hits. At the plate, Chris Conrath and Doug Clark each had three hits.

In the second game, EV rallied from a 4-1 deficit with the help of a two-run single by Aaron Tiffany and back-to-back doubles by Pat Stookey and Mike Wall to provide the game-winning run.

At Pullman, in the first game of a doubleheader between Colville and Pullman (1-5), the Indians (3-2) defeated the Greyhounds 13-1. The second game wasn’t reported.

In the first game, Colville’s Eric Weatherman hit a three-run homer, and Jared Bateman had a two-run single in the third as the Indians scored six runs in the inning.

In Bi-County League action, Almira/Coulee-Hartline’s Jason Pierce recorded a no-hitter in the Warriors’ 12-0 win over Lind in the first game of a doubleheader. The Bulldogs had two batters reach base.

Softball

Colville took two from Pullman by scores of 13-0 and 15-0.

The Indians got a 12-strikeout, two-hit performance from sophomore Melissa Wollan in the first game. Rachel Cox had three hits and two RBIs.

In the second game, Tarrah Brown threw her second no-hitter of the year. She struck out nine and issued no walks. Brown no-hit Shadle Park two weeks ago.

Soccer

In Frontier League play, East Valley beat host Colville 13-0. For the Knights, Chris Skidmore had three goals and three assists, Tony Pass had two goals and two assists and Chad Misterek scored twice.

At Riverside, Deer Park/Riverside beat Clarkston, 6-2. Ryan Baker had two goals and an assist for DP/R.

At West Valley, even though the Eagles outshot Medical Lake 19-3, the Cardinals managed to force a 1-1 tie as ML goalie Scott Houston had 14 saves.

At Pullman, Cheney made Nicholas Reynolds’ goal at the 14-minute mark last the entire game in a 1-0 win.
