Holyfield Clings To Dream

Compiled From Wire Services

Evander Holyfield has offered to replace Mike Tyson and meet Bruce Seldon, the World Boxing Association champion, on July 13.

Tyson lost his latest legal round Thursday when a three-judge panel in Hackensack, N.J., refused to lift the injunction prohibiting him from fighting anyone but Lennox Lewis in a match for the World Boxing Council title.

Tyson had hoped to face Seldon July 13.

Although Holyfield is 34 and has run out of gas in recent losses to Riddick Bowe and Michael Moorer, he would be willing to fight twice in 10 weeks. A former Olympian, Holyfield desperately wants to regain a title and to be a torch bearer. Opening ceremonies are July 19.

Holyfield meets former cruiserweight champ Bobby Czyz next Friday night.
