Pilot Spots Crash, Lands, Saves Pair

Compiled From Wire Services

An airport manager giving a flying lesson landed his plane quickly after seeing another plane crash and rushed to rescue two people from the burning wreckage.

Shane Williams’ quick heroics saved pilot Christopher Malhoit and his teenage daughter seconds before the entire wreck burst into flames.

Malhoit, 42, and his 14-year-old daughter, Lauren, remained hospitalized in serious condition Saturday after the crash at Fulton County Airport on Friday night.

The plane, a four-seat Bellachana Super Viking, slammed into the ground during an attempted landing, then bounced back up into the air, stalled, rolled and finally plunged nose-first from about 100 feet above ground.
