Huskies Women Advance To Finals

University of Washington advanced to the finals of the NCAA softball World Series Sunday as Jeanine Giordano’s three-run double in a six-run fifth inning gave the Huskies an 8-2 victory over UCLA at Columbus, Ga.

Washington (59-8) plays Arizona for the title today.

Crew

The Washington State University women’s Junior Varsity Eight boat claimed the Pacific-10 Conference title for the second consecutive year in the championship finals at Redwood Shores, Calif.

WSU’s Varsity Eight came in second to Washington on a very windy 2,000-meter course.

Both crews will row in the Collegiate National Rowing Championships June 7-8 at Cincinnati.

Golf

Spokane’s Britney Holt shot a 79-79-158 in the AJGA Girls Junior Championship at the par-71 Starr Pass Golf Club in Tucson, Ariz.

Holt finished 12 shots behind Beth Bauer, of Valrico, Fla., who won the tournament with a 75-71-146.

Spokane’s Hillary Prugh rebounded from a first-day 99 to finish at 182.
