She was also cited for her concern for patients and a timely and dependable delivery of chemo medications to the North Idaho Cancer Center.

The following local graduating seniors received Honors Program certificates from the University of Idaho earlier this month: Hope Britt Heisel, a political science major and daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Mark Heisel. Moscow Philip David, a music major and Tristan Trotter, an English major and daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Trotter. Former Lind, Wash., band and orchestra instructor, Gilbert Burns, was recently honored by two former students and their families at a luncheon in Coeur d’Alene.

Burns was the instructor who helped earn the band and orchestra a superior rating in the district music contest in the 1930s. The band’s superior rating qualified them for the National competition.

Burn’s chose to compete in class A contests even though Lind was a class D school and was graded excellent when judged against other contest bands in the nation.
