The council will hear about plans to annex 135 acres at Government Way and Fort George Wright Drive. Also, council members will learn about proposed 1997 library and parks and recreation spending plans, as well as take public testimony on the city’s budget.

The board will discuss hiring a consultant to study the proposed expansion of the Convention Center.
Spokane City Plan Commission
Wednesday, 1:30 p.m. regular meeting, council chambers
City Hall, 808 W. Spokane Falls Blvd.
The commission will have a public hearing on three requests to change the city’s comprehensive land-use plan. Those include Marco Barbanti’s proposal to change a residential area along Division between Central and Nebraska avenues to a commercial area and Rod Plese’s request to change a residential area along Francis between Atlantic and Normandie streets to a commercial area.
Spokane County Planning Commission
Wednesday, 6 p.m., Spokane City Council Chambers, 808 W. Spokane Falls Blvd.
The commission is considering recommending that county commissioners expand the “exclusive agriculture” zone to Peone Prairie, Foothills, Four Mounds and an area near the town of Mica. The designation means lots smaller than 40 acres would not be allowed in those areas. Also, the commission is considering two new land-use designations to protect timber-producing and mining areas.
Spokane County Growth Management Act Steering Committee
Friday, 9 a.m., Spokane Arena Champions Room, 720 W. Mallon.
The committee is drafting urban growth boundaries to recommend to county commissioners.
