Samsung Still Hopes To Take Over Fokker

From Staff And Wire Reports

South Korea’s Samsung Group said Friday it hoped to reopen negotiations to take over the bankrupt Dutch aircraft maker Fokker NV, one day after Fokker’s receivers said talks broke down.

“Samsung Aerospace doesn’t think the deal is closed,” Samsung spokesman Park Jong-hyun said.

Official negotiations between Samsung and the Dutch government began Oct. 16, but Samsung was unable to make a decision and asked the government for another month to decide, a Dutch government source said.

Fokker’s receivers had discussed postponing a deal with Fokker’s suppliers, but they were unwilling to wait.
