Mcveigh Loses, As Do Prosecutors

Compiled From Wire Services

A judge dealt setbacks to both sides in the Oklahoma City bombing case Friday, barring Timothy McVeigh from granting interviews and prosecutors from using the results of a bomb test as evidence.

Prosecutors detonated a 5,000-pound fertilizer bomb in New Mexico this year, but U.S. District Judge Richard Matsch barred them from introducing the results at trial because defense attorneys had been improperly excluded from observing the tests.

McVeigh asked Matsch to make an exception to his gag order allowing him to grant interviews to his choice of journalists and counter what he called his “demonization.”
