Morgan Wins Ralphs Classic

Associated Press

Gil Morgan, who turned 50 and became eligible to play on the tour just 11 days earlier, birdied the first five holes and shot 5-under-par 66 Sunday to win the $800,000 Ralphs Senior Classic.

Morgan, in just his second senior event, earned $120,000 and the distinction of becoming the youngest winner in the history of the tour for players 50 and older.

Chi Chi Rodriguez missed a 4-foot par putt at the 18th hole to finish one shot behind Morgan and in a tie with Jim Colbert for second place.
