Dump Truck Hits House, But No One Hurt

Compiled From Wire Services

A loaded dump truck failed to negotiate a steep hillside curve and plowed into a house Monday, missing the woman and year-old boy inside, police said.

The woman and baby, who were in the kitchen, were unhurt; the 29-yearold truck driver jumped before the impact and also escaped injury.

They were not immediately identified.

“It’s lucky the family wasn’t in the area where it went in and we’re also lucky that the driver wasn’t in the truck,” said Marty LaFave of the Bellevue Fire Department.

According to police, the truck destroyed a main structural support for the house.

Investigators were looking into the cause of the crash on Cougar Mountain. They also were trying to determine when and how the truck could be removed.
