Drug Shows Promise For Osteoporosis
A new drug is proving it will prevent additional bone fractures in the highest-risk osteoporosis patients - those who have already had breaks - and it looks promising for others as well.
The drug, alendronate, reduced the risk of hip and spinal fractures by about 50 percent among women who had suffered previous spinal fractures. The non-hormonal drug also shows promise for preventing fractures among others with the disease, researchers said.
