Mark Evans drove Miss Budweiser to its first victory of the season to hand nonstarter PICO American Dream its first Unlimited Hydroplane national championship.

Evans averaged a course record 151.425 mph in the five-lap, 12.5-mile finale.

Dave Villwock’s PICO American Dream, which won six of the season’s first eight races, was forced to withdraw from the final after suffering damage to its right sponson in the third heat.
