Construction Worker Run Over By Truck, Killed

A construction worker was killed at a work site just north of Spokane Wednesday after he was hit by a dump truck.

John VanKomen of Ford, Wash., died instantly after being hit by the truck at 3:45 p.m., Washington State Patrol Sgt. Jim Keightley said.

VanKomen, who worked for the Acme Material and Construction Co. in Spokane, was hit by a company truck which was doing work on Hastings Road between Highway 395 and Highway 2.

The state patrol is investigating the accident.
