Race Car Kills Spectator

Compiled From Wire Services

A Cypriot woman was killed and four spectators were injured when a car competing in the Cyprus Motor Rally at Nicosia, Cyprus, skidded into a group of onlookers, race officials said.

The accident, the first involving spectators in the three-day event’s 25-year-history, occurred when a Mitsubishi Gallant driven by Cypriot driver Marios Poulitas ploughed into onlookers at a bend on a twisting mountain road.

Mark Martin, driving in only his second NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series race, ran off to an easy victory in the Lowe’s Home Improvement Warehouse 250 at North Wilkesboro, N.C.
