Aids Quilt Panels Displayed On Campus
About 900 panels from the AIDS Memorial Quilt will be on display at Montana State University in Bozeman for three days, starting next Thursday.
Each of the 3-by-6-foot panels represents the life of someone who died of AIDS. Survivors have stitched the pieces, and some bear mementos such as favorite jewelry or childhood toys.
The entire quilt consists of 40,000 panels and weighs 46 tons. Spread out, it would cover 17 acres.
Portions of the quilt have been shown in 40 countries and all 50 states.
